We enjoyed our stay very much

Rippon Tor apartmentWe were staying for a week in the beginning of April 2018. The new owners, David and Hellen, were absolutely friendly and cannot be more helpful or welcoming. The accommodation had its quirks, but was spotless with beautiful carpets and bed linen, and a huge TV, welcoming tea tray and even Easter eggs. The location has generous parking and is perfect for:-beach with fine sand, visiting seals and occasionally even dolphins (according to local regular beach swimmers);-pub;-coastal walks in challenging, but astonishingly beautiful Labrador Bay-visiting Torquay, Shaldon and other towns aroundWe enjoyed our stay very much.

Dear Peter and Natalia. Thank you for your kind review. We do hope you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to seeing you again. Many thanks David and Hellen.

Coppertree Cottage

Another lovely holiday booked through We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Torquay. David, the owner, was really friendly and they made sure the cottage had everything we needed, including a hair drier which I requested. The heated towel rail was a real bonus with all the wet clothes we had due to lots of mud on our walks and paddling in the sea!The girls loved playing in the garden where we could keep an eye on them from the cottage. We asked about a laundry room and David said this was something on his list to add to their development, alongside more outdoor play equipment. We recommend taking the lower car ferry across to Dartmouth and then driving to Blackpool Sands. Paignton Zoo was lovely too, with lots to keep the children entertained and had a good walk in Haldon Forest following the Gruffalo trail. Definitely recommend the Woks Cook Inn Chinese take-away on Barton Hill Road for anyone who is Gluten intolerant as they were extremely helpful.

Hi. Thanks for your positive feedback and we are pleased you enjoyed your time with us. As you say the washing machine and tumble dryer will be fitted over the next couple of months in time for next year. We look forward to seeing you back at Devon Palms soon.

Copper Tree Cottage

We stayed at Devon Palms for the first time the 2nd week in September and found it clean, comfortable and peaceful. David and Hellen were very welcoming and informative. It was good to be able to park the car right outside the cottage and out of view of the main road. It was in a good location to explore the area and, having a bus stop right outside made it easy to get into Torquay without the bother of finding a car park. We found some wonderful places to eat and had a lovely holiday.

Hi Bill and Heather. Thanks for the feedback and we are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. If you are back this way we look forward to seeing you at Devon Palms. David and Hellen

Apple Tree 2/09/17 to 9/09/17

We stayed in Apple Tree for the first week in September. The apartment was clean and well-equipped with everything we needed. The owners, David and Hellen, were very helpful and friendly, and have obviously made many improvements to the complex already, with more in the pipeline.Devon Palms was ideally situated for us, with friends living in Torquay and Teignmouth, so we were easily able to meet up. English weather can not be relied on - we did not really get the opportunity to sit outside, though could enjoy the views in the evening from the lovely large windows. The cove down the hill was very dramatic after a stormy morning, with a bracing walk back up! Dartmoor was close by, and we did get the chance to explore on a fine day, but there is plenty to do in the area when it is not so nice. All-in-all a very good week, and so much more to see when we come again.

Hi to the Chetwin family. So pleased you enjoyed your time with us. We look forward to having back at Devon Palms. David & Helen

Lovely Stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay at Devon Palms. The cottage was ideal, with lovely views, and providing a well positioned base from which to visit the many attractions of the local area. Hellen and David were very welcoming and accommodating and their local knowledge and advice was most useful. One week was just not long enough, we'd love to stay again.

Hello Peter & Caroline. Nice to meet you and as you say a week is just not long enough to visit all the attractions around Maidencombe. We look forward to seeing you back at Devon Palms soon. Remember to ring me direct to get the latest discounts. David and Hellen

A Happy Home

David and Hellen run a very friendly and happy collection of holiday cottages and apartments under the name, Devon Palms, which we discovered when our sat nav took us directly to the spot when searching out their Airbnb Haytor apartment. David spotted us immediately and from the very start was the perfect host, offering us advice on local attractions and how best to spend our time during the inclement weather that accompanied our stay.Since taking over the tired and out-dated Crossways & Seaview establishment, David and Hellen have worked wonders in providing a group of tastefully decorated apartments with modern amenities. The trundle bed was perfect for our two children and was easily pulled out and rapidly assembled to give them separate singles. We met a couple of other families during out three days there, all of them satisfied with the attention given them by our hosts and the quality of their rooms. Hellen can be found processing the mounds of laundry that accompany such a busy establishment and Hay Tor was spotlessly clean with matching crockery – too often holiday apartments have a hotchpotch of tableware, but not so Devon Palms. Sadly we inadvertently left two plates on the hotplate which cracked and went hand in mouth to our hosts expecting to be charged but no, both Hellen and David were very generous in forgiving us.Hay Tor apartment, being on the top floor, has vaulted ceilings that come down close to floor level. It makes the space more open and, decorated white, makes it light and fresh. We all had to take care of our heads as we came to the edges of the rooms but we had expected this from the photographs which make the flat look smaller than it is. The dining area is raised and we had to take note of this when sitting around the meal table. However, finding this gem of an apartment at the end of school holidays was a blessing, given that we only booked it three days before arrival.Devon Palms is in an ideal location, less than four miles from the heart of Torquay yet in a quiet and peaceful rural environment. Maidencombe Beach is just down the hill and was a delightful spot for us to enjoy the late morning before returning for check-in time. All in all, the four of us enjoyed our stay at Hay Tor and would be happy to return in the future should we come this way again.

Hello Michael. Thank you for your generous feedback which is very pleasing to read. We are working very hard to make sure our guests enjoy their time at Devon Palms, whatever the weather. We certainly look forward to seeing you back with us sometime soon. David and Hellen.
